San Diego Sabers Sweep Weekend Games

The San Diego Sabers delivered a statement this weekend with back-to-back victories with final scores of 7-1 against the Ventura Vikings and 5-1 against the Long Beach Bombers. With great team communication and cohesion, the Sabers left no doubt about their dominance on the ice. 


Friday, October 25 - San Diego Sabers 7, Ventura Vikings 1

The Sabers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three goals in the opening period. Sabers forward #8 Bryce Alexander started this game off minutes into the first, with assists from #24 Sammy Albano and #91 Briar Dickson. Shortly after, #6 Knut Hornkvist doubled the lead with a goal and assists from #11 Liam Krupcyznski and #7 Tristan Andrews. Sabers defensemen #4 Aidan Cosgrove capped off the first-period scoring with a power play goal and assists from #6 Knut Hornkvist and #94 Sam Bailey spree putting the Sabers up 3-0 in the first period. 


The offense didn’t slow down in the second, with two more players joining the scoresheet with three goals. #7 Tristan Andrews struck first in the period, with assists from #2 Owen Robertson and #6 Knut Hornkvist. Sabers forward #94 Sam Bailey joined in on the fun and kept the momentum going with assists from #24 Sammy Albano and #21 Caleb Murray. #7 Tristan Andrews rounded out the period by finishing it out with a goal and assists from #20 Noah Black and #17 Cory Pettit, pushing the lead to 6-0 by the second intermission. 


In the final period, the Sabers maintained control. The Sabers scored their seventh and final goal of the night, adding another tally to the scoreboard. The Vikings managed to break through for a single goal late in the third, but the Saber’s defense stayed strong, denying any hope of a comeback. 


Saturday, October 26 - San Diego Sabers 5, Long Beach Bombers 1

After yielding an early power-play goal to the Bombers, the Sabers responded with a goal from forward #11 Liam Krupcyznski, with assists from #2 Owen Robertson and #6 Knut Hornkvist. The period ended in 1-1, with both teams looking evenly matched.


The Sabers came out in the second period determined to seize the lead, and #91 Briar Dickson came out midway through the period with assists from #6 Knut Hornkvist and #4 Aidan Cosgrove, giving the Sabers a 2-1 edge. Seconds before the period ended, #4 Aidan Cosgrove added to the tally with assists from #11 Liam Krupcynski and #21 Caleb Murray, pushing the lead to 3-1 as the team’s defense clamped down to keep the Bombers at bay. 


In the final period, the Sabers continued to dominate. Aidan Cosgrove added his second goal of the night with assists from #11 Liam Krupcynski and #6 Knut Hornkvist, striking early in the period to make it 4-1. Briar Dickson also followed up with another goal, completing the scoring and sealing their 5-1 victory. 


The Sabers showcased their skills and hard work this season with back-to-back commanding performances.
