Sabers wipeout Shredders on the road
Friday, February 18th Game Recap:
The Sabers came into Friday night's game with a four-game winning streak and made it six after this weekend series against the Long Beach Shredders. The Sabers dominated the first game with an 11-1 win. The Sabers came out hot scoring five goals in the first period, two of them coming from Elias Lindstrom. Lindstrom would finish the night with an incredible 5 goals and 1 assist and 6 points. He along with five other Sabers players tallied a multi-point night. Goaltender Francis Plant held his own in net, making 32 saves on 33 shots and getting the win. Oscar Sjostedt had himself a night as well getting an amazing 6 assists night.
The Shredders had a tough night with the loss. The lone goalscorer for the Shredders Carter Zaworthy scored his 16th goal of the season and was assisted by Colin Chon his first assists of the year, and Bryce Cooper his 13 assists on the year. Goaltender Everett Baily got the start and it would be a quick night. Bailey allowed 3 goals on five shots with 2 saves and was quickly relieved by Jean Berthudin who allowed 8 goals on 51 shots with 43 saves on the night.
Saturday, February 19th Game Recap:
The Sabers continued their winning streak to six ending the weekend with an 8-2 victory on Saturday night. The Sabers once again came out hot scoring three goals in the first two of them again being from Elias Lindstrom. Lindstrom would finish the night with 4 goals. Adam Wedberg would have himself a night as well, scoring a hat-trick and an assist, ending his night with 4 points. Goaltender Francis Plant would continue his strong performance in net, only allowing 2 goals on 31 shots and making 29 saves. Oscar Sjostedt would continue his outstanding performance with back-to-back multi-point nights with 1 goal and 3 assists and 4 points in the Saturday nights contest.
The Long Beach Shredders would end the weekend on a bad note and look to the coming week. The lone goalscorer for the Shredders was Bryce Cooper scoring his 11th and 12th goals of the season. The first goal was assisted by Carther Zaworthy his 19th assist of the year. The second goal would be assisted by Colin Chon his 2nd assist in two straight games, and Carter Zawrothy again for his 20th assist of the year. Goaltender Julian Arenal would get the start between the pipes for the Shredders. As he allowed 8 goals on 53 shots and made 43 saves to end the night.
